This is a quick and dirty dedicated server setup tutorial i posted a while ago.
If you ever need help with this stuff feel free to PM me on MegaMekNet - the 3025 campaign.
Here is the tutorial: You just copy your MMNet Folder and name it something like Dedicated.
Start the game from that new folder with a random account / no password
Press File ---> Configuration

There you select the Host Setup tab and make all the settings you need:

Max Players:
Max Number of Players that can join the Host.
A good number would be 6-7 so it can be used for Tourneys where all factions participate.

Comment:
Anything you like. Maybe add your name so people know who runs it.

Port: Any port you like just make sure it's not blocked by your router or firewall.

Socket Timeout:
Leave that at 20000.

Check the "Convert Client to Dedicated Host" checkbox.

Restart Games:
Number of Games before the dedicated server auto restarts.
Leave at 10 or if you have problems with your ram getting low to less. You will have to restart the dedicateds from time to time anyway.

Ded Owners:
Leave emtpy so everyone can restart, reset, load savegames and stuff. I'm running 4 Deds and never had a problem with any player abusing the full access.

Memory:
I'm running those 4 Deds with 64MB, this didn't work out with 256MB RAM so I upped it to 512MB RAM and have no problems anymore.
You might wanna go with 32/64 MB.

After that stuff is done you close the Client and the next time it's started it will show up as a Dedicated in the Battle Tab.

Pretty easy and quick setup.

you can most likley remove some of the images from the data folder of the Dedicated MMNet folder but if you got enough discspace there is no need to mess with those.

if any problems occure feel free to contact me ingame, in this topic or by PM.

If you just wanna start a server you can play your games on, you can do that by pressing the Host Button in your client.
Just make sure the port that's set in the Host Setup thing is allowed for firewall/router.

Warning: Do not check the "Convert to Dedicated" box in your client you're playing with.
If you accidentialy did that: Open your MMNet folder/data/mwconfig.txt
and search for "DEDICATED=true" and change that to "DEDICATED=false" that will allow you to login as usual again.

Have fun.

P.s.: If you need help forwarding the ports check out http://portforward.com/routers.htm

Take care and
if you wanna lower my monthly cost for the Periphery Dedicated Servers :)
